Aeronautical fabrics is a term which encompasses all textile products that are used to control the movement of objects while they are airborne. This could be to impart a specific rate of descent, to decelerate a high speed object, to trap hot air or rising currents and act as a lifting device, or purely acting as a fun article using the wind caught in a sail to propel an object in a desired direction, as in kiting or kite surfing.

Aeronautical fabrics are highly technical and critical products, as they are generally designed to preserve life or ensure delivery of very expensive equipment safely to earth.

The Gelvenor range of aeronautical products is the result of intensive research for innovative and speciality designs, continually drawing on the wealth of experience we have obtained over the 30 years that we have been producing these products. Although many products are manufactured to meet recognised international standards for the military and sports markets, we apply manufacturing techniques and technical know-how to set our fabrics well above these standards to ensure that the end user gets more in terms of performance, than what the minimum specifications require.

Fabrics are currently produced to the MIL-C-STD's for a variety of military applications which will cover:
